PsycBooks (APA Psycnet)
PsycBooks is a full-text database (.pdf) of more than 700 scholarly books and 12,200 chapters of books published by the American Psychological Association (APA). It also includes the texts of a selection of classic books from additional publishers, some dating to the 19th century. It is the only source for the electronic version of the 8-volume Encyclopedia of Psychology, co-published by APA and Oxford University Press in 2000 (print copies in RR and RR4). The intent is to eventually include all APA-published scholarly titles since 1953, as well as additional classic works. Additional content is added to the database monthly, both for recent works and archival ones. However, there is approximately an 18-month embargo on the texts of newly-published titles. In addition to the standard OVID search interface, the PsycBooks database offers a browse function where you can access lists of books by title, books by subject, and an alphabetic title list of the classic books. Cited Reference linking is also a feature of the database.
