Importing PMC Numbers Along With Your References

EndNote and your PubMed Central (PMC) ID number

If you want EndNote to import the PMC ID numbers along with your PubMed records, you will
need to use a slightly modified import filter for PubMed. This filter can be downloaded from the EndNote website. Copy this file into the EndNote program folder called "Filters" and when you import a text file into EndNote from PubMed, the PMC ID Number will be put in the Accession Number field and the PMID Number will be put in the Notes field.

If you use EndNote to Connect to PubMed and search directly, you need the updated PubMed Connection File which you should copy into the EndNote program folder. To have the PMC ID Number display in your records, you will need to download BOTH the filter and the connection file.

RefWorks and your PubMed Central (PMC) ID number

When you search PubMed from your RefWorks account, RefWorks automatically imports the PMC ID and puts it into the "Notes" field in your RefWorks record. You can Edit the individual references to move the PMC ID number to a different field if you choose. For additional RefWorks help, visit the Library's RefWorks website.

Reference Manager and your PubMed Central (PMC) ID number

ProCite and your PubMed Central (PMC) ID number
