f: When the letter f appears to the left of, or above a call number, the f indicates an oversized (folio) item over 31 cm high or 23 cm wide.
- On floors 2,3,4, and 5, folio material has been separated out from regular sized material and shelved in a separate folio sequence at the north end of the floor.
- Folio material in compact shelving on the B-level is shelved in a separate sequence on fixed ranges designated with orange-labeled range markers.
- The East Asian folios in the Harvard Yenching classification are on shelving affixed to the south wall of the B level, near the Harvard Yenching Chinese materials.
- The East Asian folios in the Library of Congress classification are shelved on the eastern most wall of the 5th floor East Asian bookstacks immediately off the entrance from the Reading Room.
xf: When the letter xf appears to the left of, or above a call number, the xf indicates an extremely large (elephant folio) item over 40 cm high or 32 cm wide.
- With the exception of materials in the East Asian collections, all elephant folios are shelved in a separate sequence on the 2nd floor (arranged in LC call number order from A - Z).
- The East Asian elephant folios are interfiled with the East Asian folios (see folio explanation above for specifics).
