Alumni Access and Privileges
Reference Privileges (use of Library facilities
only):
- All University of Chicago graduates are eligible for access to
the Library free of charge. To obtain a Library Card after
graduation for access or borrowing, please visit the ID &
Privileges Office.
- Graduates of the Labratory School are able to establish access
to the Library free of charge once they have obtained their
University of Chicago Alumni Association card.
- Members of the Alumni Association with an "X" status are able
to establish access to the Library free of charge once they have
obtained their University of Chicago Alumni Association
card.
Borrowing Privileges (ability to charge
materials out): Fees for borrowing privileges are on a graduated
scale based on the number of books that can be checked out at any
given time.

To establish or renew reference or borrowing privileges, please
visit the ID& Privileges office in the
lobby of the Regenstein Library.
- Guests of Alumni:
- Alumni must accompany guest
- Alumni must have valid University of Chicago Library ID or
photo identification
- Guests must have photo identification
- Extended guests, please contact the Privileges Supervisor
- Interlibrary
Loan:
- Alumni are eligible for borrowing: $5 fee per
transaction
- Electronic Resources
- Anyone may use any electronic resources available on-site while
in the libraries.
- Due to site-licensing agreements, remote access to subscription
services is available only to faculty, students and staff with
current computing accounts on the campus network.
