General Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Monographic & Serials Storage Project supervisor this position is responsible for bar-coding, updating and creating items records and holdings information for materials located in Regenstein that are transferring to interim storage. Processing will be done according to departmental procedures and standards for the Regenstein Library and all satellites except the Law Library. Prepare fill-in pieces for addition to the Library’s catalog, or for withdrawal. This includes: working with other sections of the library to coordinate withdrawal of pieces from the collection. Maintaining statistics of materials processed and pieces marked for storage. Referring material in need of preservation to the appropriate person; Referral of problems to the appropriate supervisor, including physical, database maintenance and processing problems. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Previous library experience or an equivalent combination of position-related experience and education; knowledge of library procedures and classifications; working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software; ability to sustain close attention to detail over long periods of time; ability to work independently; high aptitude for problem solving; excellent verbal and written communication skills; flexibility and adaptability in managing tasks to meet changes in procedures, processes, and technology required. Working knowledge of Horizon strongly preferred.
Mental Demands:
Strong communication, problem solving, and organizational skills required. Ability to work independently to a high standard of quality with appropriate use of supervisory support. Ability to prioritize, schedule and complete tasks in a timely manner. Demonstrated skill in maintaining effective working relationships with other staff. Ability to contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment by showing flexibility, initiative, ability to learn new skills and willingness to contribute ideas and share experiences to benefit the department as a whole.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to sit for long periods, must be able to visually focus on on-line record for long periods. Ability to lift 30 lbs. and push loaded book trucks, ability to handle large and oversized volumes.
