Note: This is a one-year term position with benefits. This position is coverd by the bargaining unit.
This position is responsible for monitoring and tracking the Library's room reservation system as it relates to set up needs for Library classrooms and meeting rooms. The software responsibilities include monitoring for updates and basic maintenance of the software. Room set-up responsibilities include set up of Audio Visual equipment as well as furniture and other needs for Library, University, and Faculty/Student use. This position also maintains an inventory of AV equipment and supplies, and performs or schedules basic maintenance and a replacement plan/cycle.
This position works closely with Library Administrative Desktop Systems and University specialists to understand the Audio/Visual needs of Library spaces and to ensure that AV equipment is appropriate to the changing technology needs of the Library and is properly supported by Library computer systems.
This position is also responsible for monitoring the building services office, A90, while in the office and answering the door, answering questions, and directing sub-contractors and University facilities workers as needed.
Candidates must demonstrate the following competencies: manage interpersonal relationships and interact/communicate with clarity, tact and courtesy with patrons, staff, faculty, students and others; communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing; identify priorities; recognize and resolve or refer problems; work effectively with supervision and as a part of a team; use or learn a range of position-related software applications; demonstrated ability to use or learn to a range of position related computer applications related to position requirements. These may include standard software packages as well as library systems required; demonstrated ability to read and interpret documentation required.
Previous library experience or a combination of position-related education and experience required. Previous experience providing audio-visual support services required. Excellent working knowledge of Internet and Windows applications required. Highly organized and comfortable with a high volume of varied and often time-sensitive tasks required. Ability to prioritize, schedule and complete tasks in a timely manner required. Strong interpersonal skills required. Ability to communicate effectively, courteously, and diplomatically with faculty, staff, students, visitors, and outside contractors and vendors required. Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions and highly variable workflow required. Ability to work independently to a high standard of quality with appropriate use of supervisory support required. Ability to make contributions to a team and function well in a strong team environment required. Reliability, punctuality and ability to maintain a regular schedule required.
