Universe, an online version of the ASI (1973- ),
SRI (1980- ), and IIS (1983- ), is a
major tool for statistical research. Covers data from U.S. federal
and state governments; university research centers, private
associations and organizations, and independent research groups;
and international and intergovernmental organizations. Records
include abstracts, with full text of selected U.S. federal and
state publications available from as early as 1995. Provides access
to the Statistical Abstract of the United States and
to various Web sites. (1960s- )
- CountryWatch.com
provides basic political, economic, and general data for 191
countries.
- Current Index to
Statistics, a joint venture of the American Statistical
Association and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, indexes
journal articles and books in statistics and related fields. (1974-

- Social
Science Research Computing Data Library, a resource of the
University of Chicago Social Science Research Computing Community,
holds data from the Inter-university Consortium for
Political and Social Research (ICPSR), the University of
Chicago's National Opinion
Research Center (NORC), U.S. statistical agencies, and other
data archives. Topics include historical and contemporary
population characteristics, community and urban studies, intra- and
international conflict, economic behavior and attitudes, education,
