Access to the D'Angelo Law Library

The D'Angelo Law Library is for the use of the students, faculty and staff of the University of Chicago and their accompanied guests and spouses. On weekends, and after 4:30 p.m. weekdays, students, faculty and staff must have their Chicago cards, or be accompanied by a parent or spouse bearing such identification.

Attorneys, judges and their clerks, and law students from other Chicago area law schools may also use the D'Angelo Law Library. Lawyers and judges may be admitted by presenting a bar card or court identification. Law students from Chicago-Kent, DePaul, John Marshall, Loyola and Northwestern may be admitted by presenting their law school ID. The federal depository documents collection is open to the public weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Other researchers may use the Law Library by prior arrangement with the Associate Dean for Library and Information Services, with the Associate Law Librarian for Public Services, or with the Circulation Supervisor.

University of Chicago Law School students who wish to use other law libraries during the summer should check with the Associate Law Librarian for Public Services well in advance to arrange for permission. Law school libraries in most large cities are not open to the public.
