Current Contents Now Available on LibInfo

Current Contents provides table of contents information for 6,500 journals in the life, environmental, biological, physical, chemical, earth, applied, social, and behavioral sciences; and in agriculture, engineering, and technology. A bibliographic citation is available for each article, and the database can be searched by journal title, article title, authors, keywords, and corporate source. Abstracts, available for approximately 85% of the articles, are also searchable.

Special features of this electronic version of Current Contents include the identification of titles on campus and at Argonne National Laboratory, and an electronic interlibrary request service for articles from journals not owned by the University Library. Delivery of articles from journals held on campus is possible for library users via the Gargoyle Express service.

Current Contents data is produced by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI). Access to Current Contents has been made possible through a cooperative project between the Argonne National Laboratory Information and Publishing Division, and the University of Chicago Library. The system, also known as ACCESS, is based at and managed by staff at the Argonne National Laboratory. Updated weekly, the database can be searched by current week, current month, and year. Citation coverage extends back to 1994.

Current Contents Web (graphical interface) is available through LibInfo, the Library's web server. From the Library's home page, choose Subject Guides to Sources, then The Sciences, then the Science Reference Resources & Databases Page, at The direct URL for Current Contents Web is (These links available only when accessed via a University of Chicago computer address.)

The character-based version of Current Contents can be reached via University computer accounts by typing telnet 5042 at the quads, ellis, kimbark, or woodlawn prompt. Help screens are available in both the Web and character-based versions.
