Collections
The Joseph Regenstein Library houses the Business, Humanities and Social Sciences collections.
Bookstacks
Regenstein's bookstacks, housing its circulating collections, are located on every floor except the first. The entrance to the stacks is in the west half of the building on the A-Level and on floors 2-5. The B-Level is entirely bookstacks. Call number guides are posted on each floor to assist you.
Reference Collections
Reference materials for disciplines in the humanities and social sciences are located in the Library's reading rooms on the following floors:
1st Floor: General Reference and Business Information.
2nd Floor: Anthropology, Geography, Library Science, Political Science, Slavic Studies, and Sociology
3rd Floor: Cinema, English and Western European Languages and Literature, History, Music, and the Performing Arts
4th Floor: Ancient Near East, Art, Classics, Education, Jewish Studies, Philosophy, Psychology, and Religion
5th Floor: East Asia, Islamic Middle East, Linguistics, and Southern Asia
Periodicals
The majority of the Library's current periodicals are located in the Periodicals Reading Room, located on the east side of the second floor. Current periodicals for Middle Eastern Studies, East Asian Studies, and South Asian Studies are located with their corresponding reference collections on the fifth floor.
Special Collections
The Special Collections Research Center is located on the first floor. Several other collections can be found in the Third Floor Reading Room. The Library's Map Collection is located in the northwest corner. Along the east side of the floor is the Microform Collection, videotapes, as well as DVDs.The Recordings Collection, containing music and spoken word recordings, can be accessed at the window near the service desk entrance. The Chicago Jazz Archive is also located on this floor and is accessible by appointment. Self-service audio and video equipment for the use of these collections can be found near the center of the Reading Room.
