What is the Regenstein Closed Stack Collection? Where is it located?

The Regenstein Closed Stack Collection is an on-site, pageable collection that provides an interim solution to Regenstein Library's space constraints. The Closed Stack Collection is composed of books that have been identified as low-use and temporarily pulled from the Regenstein Bookstacks in order to create shelf space for new acquisitions and material that is heavily in demand. The books in the Closed Stack Collection are therefore largely serials and multi-volume sets, as well as some lesser used monographs.

The Closed Stack Collection is located on B-East in a locked bay of compact shelving. In this way, the Collection remains secure while providing the swiftest possible patron access to the books in the collection via an on-site paging service.

How can I request a book from the Closed Stack Collection?

Items in the Closed Stack Collection can be requested at the Regenstein Circulation desk on the first floor. Staff will page the book as soon as possible, normally within 15-30 minutes of the request being submitted.

How can I tell if the book I want is in the Closed Stack Collection?

Books in the Closed Stack Collection come from a number of different subject areas in Regenstein. The best way to determine if a book is in the Closed Stack Collection is to look it up online catalog or Lens and check for the following Location:

"Regenstein Closed Stack - Request at Circulation."

What if I want to browse the Closed Stack Collection?

Under normal circumstances, books in the Closed Stack will be available only by requesting them at Circulation, but patrons and staff with pressing needs can request a special browsing session during normal working hours by asking at the Circulation desk or by contacting the Bookstacks Department (2-8452).
