IntroductionA "proxy borrower," is a person who shares the borrowing privileges of a University of Chicago Faculty member or person with Indefinite Borrowing Privileges. This person is able to check out and recall books on behalf of the faculty member, with the same loan periods and privileges that said faculty would have in person. All persons with Indefinite Borrowing Privileges may authorize a Chicago student or staff member to borrow library material in their name. This privilege is intended to help faculty in their research work for the University. It is not intended to help students in their degree work, nor to enable unregistered students who are still completing a degree to circumvent paying the proper library user fee, nor to help non-University of Chicago people to gain access to the Library and circumvent paying the Library use fee. A card will be issued in the name of the person designated. All material charged on that card is the responsibility of the faculty member who has authorized the borrowing. Conditions for Use
