Demia Butler was from Irvington, Indiana. She attended the Girl's Classical School on Indianapolis, Indiana. Butler began school at the University of Chicago in 1892, receiving her Junior College certificate in 1897. She continued at the University, receiving her Ph.B in English in April 1898.
The Demia Butler Papers consist of a diary from 1892 to 1893, which represents Butler's first year as a student at the University of Chicago.
