Scope Note

This is a collection of newspaper clippings which focus on the planning, construction, and issues surrounding the general function of the Chicago subway system. The various means of transportation of Chicago inhabitants is also a subject of some of these articles. Issues of discomforts in strap-hanging and over-crowdedness of subways as well as the worker’s rights of subway car operators are included among the topics addressed in the articles.
