Historical Note

Founded in 1874, the American Neurological Association is a professional society of academic neurologists and neuroscientists dedicated to the advancement of neurology. The ANA hosts annual meetings dedicated to the presentation of research, and publishes a scientific journal (currently The Annals of Neurology).

Scope Note

This collection contains administrative records of the American Neurological Association, spanning the years 1946-1968. Most of the collection consists of incoming correspondence and carbon copies of outgoing correspondence. General correspondence is organized into chronological increments of years, then alphabetically by correspondent. Files related to other professional organizations that worked with the ANA are also included; these files contain material such as correspondence, reports and proceedings, and are organized alphabetically by organization.

The remainder of the administrative records in the collection consist of material related to annual meetings, membership, the appointment and activities of officers and committees, and the organization's constitution and by-laws.
