Gertrude K. Epstein Harris was born on August 30, 1902 in Lodz, Poland. She began studying at the University of Chicago in the fall of 1920. Harris received an S.B. on June 10, 1924, and transferred to the graduate school in 1925. However, she did not receive a degree their.
