Information for Elementary, Middle, and High School Teachers

The Special Collections Research Center welcomes a diversity of visiting groups. While our primary mission is to serve the faculty and students of the University of Chicago, we are happy to host other visiting groups as our staff time and classroom availability permits.

This page is for elementary, middle, and high school teachers. For University of Chicago classes, please see information online at:

Presentations

The staff of the Special Collections Research Center offers a wide variety of topical presentations for visiting elementary, middle, or high school classes. In consultation with teachers, we commonly draw on our extensive archival and book collections to customize presentations for each visiting group. Students have first-hand experiences with primary sources, such as rare books and manuscripts, and learn of their uses in scholarship.

Popular presentation topics include the history of Chicago, the history of the neighborhoods of the South Side, and the history of books and printing.
