American Medical History

To help her students see how 19th-century medical history fit into American cultural life, Margaret Long drew on the rare book and manuscript collections. She asked each of her students to examine one item from the list, then, with item in hand, they reported back to the class on what they had found and how it informed their understanding of medical history.
