Faculty from Other Institutions
- Full-time and Tenure-track Faculty from other Universities or Post Secondary
Institutions:
- receive Quarterly Reference Privileges without fee
- Faculty from institutions within the continental United States may purchase Quarterly Borrowing Privileges for $150/quarter (limit of 25 books checked out at one time)
- must present a photo ID and current identification from their institution to the Privileges Office
- Adjunct, Part-time, and Non-tenure-track:
- may request a Day Pass for reference visits
- must present a photo ID and current identification from their institution to the Privileges Office
- do not qualify for Borrowing Privileges

Students from Other Institutions
- Students in the Chicago Area:
- must be issued an INFOPASS in order to use the Library
- must present current photo ID
- Northwestern University students should consult the reciprocal access and borrowing arrangements the University of Chicago Library has with Northwestern University Library.
- Students Outside the Chicago Area:
- may request a Day Pass for up to 5 reference visits/quarter
- must present current photo ID and proof of registration from their institution
- Students Performing Extended Research (from any institution):
- may apply for extended privileges by sending a written statement (via US Mail or email) of their research needs to the Privileges Office
- must present current photo ID and proof of registration from their institution upon arrival
- If the Library approves the request, the person may receive:
- Reference Privileges for 7 consecutive days for $15
- Quarterly Reference Privileges for $75
- Students from CIC Institutions
- may receive Quarterly Reference Privileges with a letter of introduction from a faculty advisor at their home institution stating the intended use of the collection
- must present current photo ID and proof of registration from their institution
