- Registered Students:
- All students registered for the current quarter are eligible for Quarterly Borrowing Privileges. Registered student's borrowing privileges should be updated automatically at the beginning of each quarter.
- Incoming Students:
- Students admitted to the University but arriving early for their programs may visit the ID & Privileges Office to receive at no cost a pass to freely access the libraries. Borrowing privileges are not available until a Chicago card is issued.
- Extended Residence:
- All Extended Residence students are eligible for Quarterly Borrowing Privileges.
- Extended Residence students must come to the ID & Privileges Office to set up their privileges.
- Pro-forma:
- U of C students receive free Quarterly Reference Privileges.
- There is a fee of $60/quarter for Quarterly Borrowing Privileges.
- Students visiting from other universities are eligible for free Quarterly Borrowing Privileges with a Chicago Card.
- Pro Forma students must come to the ID & Privileges Office to set up their privileges.
- U of C students receive free Quarterly Reference Privileges.
- Students Who Are Unregistered or On Leave of Absence:
- Students who are unregistered for the current quarter or are on leave of absence may be able to obtain authorization for reference or borrowing privileges from their Dean of Students' Office. Permission can only be given for students who are actively pursuing a degree. If the Library has received authorization from the Dean of Students office, we will create an access card free of charge or allow the student to purchase borrowing privileges for the quarter for $60. If unregistered students do not wish to purchase borrowing privileges, they must return all charged materials before an access card will be issued.
- Prospective Students:
- Admitted with on-campus session badge from the Admissions Office
