Reserve collection:
The reserve collection is located behind the circulation desk. See the University of Chicago Course Materials page for information on finding course reserve listings as well as for information about Chalk, the course management system. Bring the call number for the item to the circulation desk and an attendant will retrieve the material for you. Most items circulate for two hours; some circulate longer; be sure that you know the due time/date when you check the material out. This information is on the slip provided with each circulated item. The reason we put books on reserve and limit the loan period is to provide the greatest number of people the greatest access to materials when there is heavy demand for them; so fines for late return are steep!
The Phd Reading List is not available through Chalk. It is available through the SSAd Library Permanent Reserves page.
Reserve circulation guidelines:
Reserve items circulate two at a time.
There is a waiting period of twenty minutes before a student can check out the same reserve item again. Circulation desk attendants may make exceptions to this guideline if another copy of the item is on reserve and is not charged out.
Additional notes:
Only the circulation supervisor or the librarian can override blocked circulation privileges.
