The Library provides access to materials in support of classroom instruction and university-related research not available in the University of Chicago Library collections through its Interlibrary Loan service. University of Chicago faculty, students and staff can use Interlibrary Loan at no charge.

You may make a request for any item you need and the Library will do its best to obtain an original photocopy, or digital document for you. Materials generally take 10 working days to receive, however some items may take longer. You will be notified by phone or email when the requested items have arrived.

To place an order use one of the following forms

Individuals who request journal articles will, in most cases, be able to download their request using a web browser through our Electronic Document Delivery service. You will receive an email when your document is available. This email will contain: 1) a unique Login ID, 2) a Personal Identification Number (PIN), and 3) the web address (www.lib.uchicago.edu/h/edd) where requests can be viewed. By going to the specified web page and entering their Login ID and PIN, individuals will be shown a list of their available articles. These articles can be viewed using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

If you request a book you may pick up material at the Crerar Circulation Desk.
