When searching databases, the
button, when present, can be used
to locate an item in the UofC online catalogue, to gain acces to the full-text of an article,
or to send interlibrary loan orders to the ILL Office for items that the Library does not own.
Multi-Library Catalogs
- WorldCat [Via UofC Proxy]: Now including the records from the RLG Union Catalog, contains over 62 million records for books and other materials in over 10,000 libraries worldwide. Updated daily.
- COPAC: merged online catalogues of major University and National Libraries in the UK and Ireland, including the British Library.
- Karlsruher Virtueller Katalog (KVK): The KVK allows users to search the catalogues of multiple German, Swiss, and Austrian libraries. Other international libraries can be added as well.
- OPAC indice SBN (Servizio Bibliotecario Nazionale) Union catalog of over 2,000 Italian libraries.
- SUDOC (Système universitaire de documentation): The combined catalogs of French academic libraries. See also the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.

- Gnomon Online: Not as complete as the CD-ROM version, but good from 1997 on. With weekly bibliographic uploads, it is more up to date than L'Année philologique. Gnomon on CD-Rom is located on the first workstation inside the Classics Reading Room, on the 4th floor of Regenstein Library.

- Web of Science (1975-) with citation linking [Via UofC Proxy]: includes the Arts & Humanities Citation Index as well as Social Sciences and Science Citation Indexes. From the home page, click on "ISI Web of Science" to proceed. It is best to uncheck the Science Citation Index. Though not as complete as other indexes, Web of Science does allow users to see a list of works that have cited an article.

- Bulletin de Médecine Ancienne = Ancient Medicine Newsletter collects bibliographic information on the study of ancient medicine.
- CLAROS: Concordance
of Greek Inscriptions (Diccionario Griego-Español):
Claros is an electronic database containing the successive publications of epigraphical Greek texts re-edited during the last 125 years (and before). Users of CLAROS can consult the data relative to the edition of Greek inscriptions (name and date of publication, and the editor's name; but not the epigraphic text itself). More interestingly, users can retrieve the concordance among inscriptions, that is, the different editions of the same inscription. In addition to the bibliographical reference to the main editions of an epigraphical text, CLAROS contains the reference to numerous corpora of translations of the same Greek texts. They offer a searchable list of abbreviations as well. - DRoits ANTiques (DRANT) Database: Full coverage from 1974 on. The focus of the database is ancient legal institutions.

- ProQuest Digital Dissertations/Dissertation Abstracts [Via UofC Proxy] Includes citations for dissertations accepted at accredited universities from 1861 to the present. Those published from 1980 forward also include 350-word abstracts written by the author. Abstracts for earlier dissertations are available in Dissertation Abstracts (Z5055.U49M6; Regenstein Reference). Citations for master's theses from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. The full text of dissertations since 1997 is available for free downloading.
- Foreign Doctoral Dissertations Database from the Center for Research Libraries in Chicago. CRL has more than 750,000 uncataloged foreign dissertations, of which approximately 20,000 are included in this database. CRL also maintains a list of universities from which it receives printed dissertations on exchange or deposit and the date when this began. Request items via University of Chicago Interlibrary Loan.
- Index to Theses [Via UofC Proxy] A comprehensive listing of theses with abstracts accepted for higher degrees by universities in Great Britain and Ireland since 1716.
