Collections of primary sources
- Microform collections in Regenstein Library. Not to be overlooked, these microform collections include early film journals and fan magazines, publicity kits, shooting scripts, studios' archives and more.
- Department of Special Collections Film Studies Collections: The University of Chicago Library's Department of Special Collections holds several collections that may be of interest to film studies scholars. The Motion Picture Stills Collection contains photos and magazine clippings documenting American films and film personalities from the mid-1920s to the mid-1930s, glass lantern slides, scenes from Vitaphone films, and marquee cards. Other collections are the papers of William Benton, of Ernest W. Burgess, and of Samuel Goldman, and the University Archives Film Collection, comprising videotapes and films relating to the University of Chicago and its academic programs.
