OIA advises international students and staff about United States government regulations and University rules and policies and conducts competitions for overseas study awards such as Fulbright grants. OIA also maintains a library of catalogs from foreign universities and a collection of links to government and practical information. Information is also available for UofC administrators such as immigration and visa requirements and so forth. - Study Abroad Opportunities
for Students in The College
Available is a wide variety of information on the study abroad programs approved by the College. This includes a listing of opportunities that can be accessed by region of the world or by type such as intensive-language or university-based or study of civilizations. Practical information about fees, eligibility, applications, and safety abroad is also available along with extensive information about fellowships and scholarships for study abroad program participants. The participants in these programs are registered as UofC students and receive academic credit, so consultation with academic advisors is recommended. - International House
International House at the University of Chicago provides community and support services for international students and visiting scholars. I-House also coordinates, with the University's Office of Graduate Affairs, the English Language Institute which provides English as a Second Language programs for new students and their families. - Funding

- Council on International Educational Exchange
(CIEE)
The Council sponsors a variety of study abroad and cultural exchange programs, professional conferences and seminars, as well as opportunities to work or volunteer around the world. CIEE founded the Journal of Studies in International Education in 1997 and subsequently spearheaded the founding of the Association for Studies in International Education (ASIE) which is comprised of international education organizations from around the world. - European Council of International Schools
(ECIS)
Founded in 1965 and registered as a non-profit corporation in the United States, this is the largest association of schools and universities around the world that are accredited and offer opportunities for international students. Members include more than 570 international schools (primary and secondary), more than 430 institutions of higher education (including the University of Chicago), more than 160 supporting members such as publishers and suppliers, and more than 850 individual members who are interested in international education. ECIS maintains a categorized and annotated list of links to international education resources of interest to students, parents, teachers, and administrators. ECIS also offers a searchable directory of member schools, colleges, and other institutions. Affiliated organizations are the Council of International Schools, which has listings of job vacancies, and the Council of International Schools in the Americas. - Forum on Education Abroad
Located at Smith College, the is an independent organization devoted to studying the quality of college study-abroad programs. - Institute of International Education (IEE)
The Institute is a global higher education agency for students and faculty offering academic and professional exchanges, training and development programs, scholarships, and international affairs services. IEE was founded in 1919 as an independent non-profit organization and is today funded by a variety of government agencies, corporations, and foundations. IEE is known as the administrator of the Fulbright Program but it operates more than 250 education and development programs and disburses more than $125 million annually. The website offers access to information about all of the various programs and opportunities. A listing of IEE publications is available. These include research reports, compilations of data, and directories of study abroad and other opportunities.
- NAFSA: Association of International Educators
NAFSA is a membership organization that promotes the exchange of students and scholars to and from the U.S. It provides a forum for discussion of issues, professional education, and sets and upholds standards of good practice. The organization also has a publications program consisting of practice-oriented books, newsletters and the research journal International Educator. NAFSA's website offers a variety of information to assist and inform its members perform work in the areas of recruitment of foreign students and evaluation of education credentials, administration of English-as-a-second-language programs, support services for international students, and operation of study abroad programs. NAFSA advocates for an international education policy that enhances global understanding and offers on its website supporting documents including policy statements, issue briefs, fact sheets, economic impact analyses and other materials. The website also offers an Ethics section providing guidelines for individuals, organizations and institutions engaged in international exchange programs. - U. S. Network for Education Information

This is "an interagency and public/private partnership whose mission is to provide official information assistance for anyone seeking information about U.S. education and for U.S. citizens seeking authoritative information about education in other countries." The website provides a wealth of information and links about the education systems of countries worldwide, directories of institutions, study abroad opportunities, and teaching overseas.

- American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS)
Founded in 1964, this is a family of corporations throughout the world that organizes cultural exchange, study abroad, and other enrichment programs for college and high school students. Many of these programs are affiliated with academic or government institutions. AIFS also has programs for international students working in the U.S. as au pairs and as counselors in summer camps. - GoAbroad.com
Founded in 1999, this website "was conceptualized to provide a one-stop information center for students wishing to travel internationally. The site was created to link prospective travelers with organizations providing international opportunities." Among its resources are listings of embassies, language schools, U.S. universities, ecotourism agencies, teaching abroad job openings, and more. Advertising is prominently included on this site but does not overwhelm the lists once you navigate to them. - Peterson's

This resource is offered for international students seeking to identify educational programs of interest in the United States. There is a searchable database of schools ranging from boarding schools for secondary students to intensive ESL programs and postgraduate study.
