Provides citations for every article of at least one column in length taken from more than 550 sources. Includes citations to book reviews and selected series and supplements. The database is updated monthly. ERIC is the largest database of materials for education in world. It contains annotated references to journal articles and to non-journal documents such as research reports, lesson plans, curriculum guides, information analyses, conferences presentations, bibliographies and more. Clearinghouses
- Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL)
This non-profit organization is composed of scholars and educators. CAL provides a wide range of services and materials for language educators, most of them free of charge, ranging from newsletters and digests to directories of internet resources in a wide array of language-related topics. Topics of interest include foreign languages, English as a second or foreign language, bilingualism and bilingual education, psycholinguistics and sociolinguistics, theoretical and applied linguistics, intercultural communication and cultural education, and study abroad and international exchange. CAL has archived most of the resources previously available from the ERIC Clearinghouse on Languages and Linguistics. - National Clearinghouse for English Language
Acquisition and Language Instruction Educational Programs (NCELA)
Formerly NCBE, the National Clearinghouse for Bilingual Education, NCELA collects, analyzes, and disseminates information relating to the effective education of linguistically and culturally diverse learners in the U.S. It produces a weekly electronic news bulletin, Newsline, and a monthly electronic magazine, Outlook. The Clearinghouse works with other service providers to help states and local school districts. NCELA offers a National Linguistic Assets Database with information about translators and interpreters as well as the NCELA Bibliographic Database with more than 20,000 citations and abstracts.

The United States Department of Education has awarded grants to a small number of institutions for the purpose of establishing, strengthening, and operating national foreign language resource and training centers to improve the teaching and learning of foreign languages. Presently there are fourteen Title VI Language Resource Centers nationwide and this page listed above (maintained at Michigan State University) provides links to the various programs and to selected performance data.
