OSERS provides an array of supports to parents and individuals, school districts and states in three main areas: special education, vocational rehabilitation and research. Network
The Regional Resource and Federal Centers (RRFC) Network is made up of the six Regional Resource Centers for Special Education (RRC) and the Federal Resource Center (FRC). (AHEAD)
AHEAD is an organization of professionals committed to full participation in higher education for persons with disabilities. It offers training programs, workshops, publications, and conferences designed to address the need for upgrading the quality of services and support available to persons with disabilities in higher education. The website includes organizational information, standards and guidelines, and publication information. - National Center on Educational
Outcomes (NCEO)
This Center's mission is to provide "national leadership in the participation of students with disabilities in national and state assessments, standards-setting efforts, and graduation requirements." The website includes a wide variety of documents, reports and directories to assist in accomplishing the group's goals. - National Center on Secondary Education and
Transition (NCSET)
The Center coordinates national resources, offers technical assistance, and disseminates information related to secondary education and transition for youth with disabilities in order to create opportunities for youth to achieve successful futures. It is headquartered at the Institute on Community Integration, University of Minnesota, and a variety of policy and research reports are available at the website. Also available is a Directory of State Resources and Contacts that lists pertinent officials and programs. - National Dissemination Center for Children
and Youth with Disabilities (NICHCY)
Funded by the U.S. Dept. of Education, this is an information and referral center that focuses on ages birth to 22. The website provides a wide array of full-text publications and other information focusing on topics such as: Specific disabilities; Special education and related services for children in school; Individualized education programs; Parent materials; Disability organizations; Professional associations; Education rights and what the law requires; Early intervention services for infants and toddlers; and Transition to adult life. It is possible to search NICHCY's databases of organizations, conferences, publications, and resource library. - Special Education Reform
Program Designs for Change
Designs for Change is an advocacy group for school reform. Itprovides assistance to families, principals, teachers, Local School Councils, and social service agencies to assist them in creating appropriate educational programs for Chicago students with disabilities. - Inclusive Schools Network
The Inclusive Schools Network is "a web-based resource for families, schools and communities that promotes inclusive educational practices". The site is funded by the Education Development Center. - Internet Special Education Resources (ISER)
ISER is a nationwide directory of professionals who serve the learning disabilities and special education communities. The intent is to help parents and caregivers find local special education professionals to conduct and assist in learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder assessment, therapy, advocacy, and other special needs. The site also provides brief reviews of special education books, life skills product listings, and some full-text essays and articles. - HEATH Resource Center
The HEATH Resource Center of The George Washington University, Graduate School of Education and Human Development, is the national clearinghouse on postsecondary education for individuals with disabilities. Support from the U.S. Department of Education enables the clearinghouse to serve as an information exchange about educational support services, policies, procedures, adaptations, and opportunities at American campuses, vocational-technical schools, and other postsecondary training entities. HEATH participates in national conferences, training sessions, and workshops; develops training modules; publishes resource papers, fact sheets, directories, and website information; and fosters a network of professionals in the arena of disability issues.
