Locating Microfilm/Microfiche at the Library

Microforms

Microforms Room - north end of the first floor

~ Microfilm in all ranges except the T classification range
~ Microfiche in all Library of Congress ranges

Lower level
~ Microfilm in the T classification range

Reader/printers for both film and fiche are available in the first floor microform room only. If you have trouble using the machines, ask for help at the Reference or Circulation desks.

What if the microform is not in the drawer or on the shelf?

~Check the re-shelving boxes in the first floor microforms room.

~Check at the Reference Desk to be certain of your information. Finding microforms can be confusing due to the two different locations. The Library catalog does not tell you which floor to check. Please ask for help.

If you've done these two steps and still can't find it, stop at the Circulation Desk and fill out a Search Form. (We'll do the looking from this point on.) Searches take between 1-5 working days.

What is the difference between microfilm and microfiche?

Microfilm is in the shape of a roll of film. Microfiche is in the shape of a 3" x 5" card. The readers in the microform room can handle both formats.
