Medical Applications and Tools

  • about.com: Medical Palm - PalmPilot about.com is a portal to Internet resources arranged in a hierarchy; similar to Yahoo!

  • Antibiotic Guide Free reference by the Johns Hopkins Divison of Infectious Diseases. Need to register first.

  • BiomedicalPDA "A knowledge management platform containing expert-authored biomedical databases that can be accessed on personal digital assistants (PDAs) that use the Palm Operating System, as well as on your desktop PC. Databases published in BioMedicalPDA are peer-reviewed and provide curated insights into the growing volume of emerging biomedical data. BioMedicalPDA can be used as a stand-alone desktop application. A PDA is not required." $69 per database to subscribe.

  • BMJ: Clinical Evidence EBM Resources. You can choose from two handheld platforms offering Clinical Evidence - both are available free for a trial period. The AvantGo platform is a stand-alone version from which you can choose the sections of Clinical Evidence you want to download and the level of detail you need. The CogniQ platform integrates Clinical Evidence with other BMJ publications.

  • COPD Guidelines Tool for Palm OS from the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD)

  • ePocrates Rx for Palm O.S Peer-reviewed drug information including off-label indications, in an easy-to-use format.

  • ePocrates Rx Formulary
    Contains the exact same content and features of ePocrates Rx drug reference guide with the addition of formulary information from healthplans with which you contract.

  • FreewarePalm: Medical Large Freeware site

  • Medical Algorithms Project "Any computation, formula, survey, or look-up table, useful in healthcare. We have collected over 3500 algorithms spanning major medical domains, organized into 44 chapters."

  • The Tarascon ePharmacopoeia
    The Tarascon ePharmacopoeia is the electronic version of the Pocket Pharmacopoeia for handheld personal digital assistants using Palm OS® (e.g., Palm Pilot®, Visor®). This software provides you the most up-to-date version of the expanded content of the Pocket Pharmacopoeia Deluxe Edition. If you are not a MedicaLogic member, you will need to register before downloading the ePharmacopoeia.
