- German Studies Web (WESSWeb): an award-winning website providing access to an organized and annotated array of free online scholarly resources in German Studies, including all German-speaking countries. The site is a collaborative project of German Studies bibliographers nationwide.
Multi-Library Catalogs
- Karlsruher Virtueller Katalog: The best starting point for searching German library catalogs, the KVK is a powerful "meta-catalog" that allows simultaneous searching of multiple library catalogs, among them those of Die Deutsche Bibliothek and the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, the regional union catalogs, Austrian and Swiss libraries, and other national catalogs.

Dissertations
- ProQuest Dissertations and Theses: Includes citations for dissertations accepted at accredited universities from 1861 to the present. Those published from 1980 forward also include 350-word abstracts written by the author. Abstracts for earlier dissertations are available in Dissertation Abstracts (Z5055.U49M6; Regenstein Reference). Citations for master's theses from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. The full text of dissertations since 1997 is available for free downloading. (UofC only)
- Sammlung Digitaler Dissertationen in Deutschland: A gateway to online dissertation sites of many German universities.
- Foreign Doctoral Dissertations Database from the Center for Research Libraries in Chicago. CRL has more than 750,000 uncataloged foreign dissertations, of which approximately 20,000 are included in this database. CRL also maintains a list of universities from which it receives printed dissertations on exchange or deposit and the date when this began. Request items via University of Chicago Interlibrary Loan.
