Created by Readex through partnerships with the American Antiquarian Society, Library of Congress, Wisconsin Historical Society and others. Digital images of newspapers from the Habsburg Monarchy and Austria provided by the Austrian National Library. Currently includes selected titles for 1780-81; 1808-1938; and 1985.

- Historical Newspapers

Palmer's Full Text Online 1785-1870 is available now with coverage for the period 1800 (January 9) - 1870. Also provides Indexes (citations only) of The Times (London) 1790-1905 (Palmer's) and 1906-1980 (Official Index); when complete will provide full-text for 1785-1870. When complete will index The New York Times from 1851-1922. A work in progress; see the detailed description for additional information.
- Hyde Park Herald Archive

Hyde Park's weekly community newspaper. The archive is currently in development, but most issues are available from 1882-present.
- Chicago Foreign Press Survey

The Chicago Foreign Language Press Survey was published in 1942 by the Chicago Public Library Omnibus Project of the Work Projects Administration of Illinois. Its purpose was to translate into English and classify selected news articles appearing in the Chicago area foreign language press from 1861 to 1938. Tips for searching.

Complete, searchable full text coverage (including ads) for several major United States newspapers. Tip: Can be searched individually, or you can select specific titles. Go to "Select Multiple Databases" and then select the titles you would like to search together.
- Newspaper Digitization Projects

- Times Digital Archive, The Times (London)

Digital edition includes articles, advertisements, illustrations, and photos for issues published from 1785-1985.
- Yomiuri Shinbun Online

Provides access to this major Japanese newspaper for the period of 1874 to 1945. The database contains full-text Yomiuri articles that can be searched by keyword, date, pagination, and subject/type of article, such as cultural sections, editorials or articles with photographs. Print and Microfilm Collections
- Library Catalog
The Library has 19th century newspapers in its circulating collection, microform collection, as well as selected titles in the Special Collections Research Center. To limit your search in the Library Catalog, use the Advanced Keyword search option. Selecting a subject search for "newspapers", plus other relevant keywords, may also help focus your search.

The Library's new search interface provides facets which can focus your search, such as "time period" and "genre", which can help you focus your search to 19th century publications.
- Microfilm Newspaper Collections
A guide to the major newspaper collections available on microfilm at the Library (not including major newspaper titles). While many of these microfilm collections are now available online, some collections contain titles not found in electronic sources.
Finding 19th Century Newspapers at Other Libraries
Locate newspapers at other libraries around the world. Please note that many print 19th century newspapers are held in special collections departments or archives at libraries and are not available for interlibrary loan services. Newspapers in microfilm may be more readily available via interlibrary loan.
