Philosophy : Electronic Resources : Reference Works

Database Finder : The Library subscribes to many different types of electronic resources, including reference works. The Database Finder provides alphabetical and subject-based lists of these electronic resources, including descriptive information to help you select the most relevant resources. To browse titles in philosophy, go to Database Finder and click on the "subject browse" tab. Scroll through the subjects in the left window and select "philosophy"; then click "go" OR just follow this link. You should see an alphabetical list of databases in philosophy. For more information on any database, click on the corresponding more info button.

Library Catalog : As well as listing electronic reference works in the Database Finder, the University of Chicago Library also includes titles of electronic reference works in the library catalog. If available, the record includes links to online access.

Encyclopedia for medieval studies "covers the period from 300 to 1500 AD/CE for the whole of Europe and parts of the Middle East and North Africa" including 36,700 signed articles by 3000 authors. • British Philosophy: 1600-1900: contains the complete texts of the following databases: Hobbes: English Works; Locke-Berkeley-Hume; Economics: Smith to Mill; The Utilitarians; and others

• Corpus des oeuvres de philosophie en langue française: philosophical works written in French from the Renaissance to 1966. Texts are based on editions in the print series published by Librairie Arthème Fayard with the Association pour le Corpus des oeuvres de philosophie en langue française.

• Digitale Bibliothek Deutscher Klassiker: Online version of the Bibliothek Deutscher Klassiker's authoritative editions of over thirty authors, including early German texts such as Lancelot and Ginover and Wolfram von Eschenbach, editions of important authors such as Herder, Kleist, and Büchner, and the works of philosophers such as Kant.

• Das Bonner Kant-Korpus : includes a searchable online version of vols. 1-23 of the Academy edition of Kant’s Gesammelte Schriften.

• Oxford Scholarship Online: Provides full-text access to selected books in philosophy, religion, economics and finance, and political science published by Oxford University Press. Currently includes over 700 titles, and 200 titles will be added annually. U of C access

• Perseus Digital Library: Contains interactive sources and studies on Ancient Greece, including Greek texts and English translations, and over 4,000 vase, sculpture and coin images from museum collections.

• Philosophical Texts: Electronic Full-Text Sources: texts available through the University of Chicago Library Electronic Full-Text Sources (EFTS).

• Published Works of Ludwig Wittgenstein: Full text of the works of Ludwig Wittgenstein.

• Schillers Werke: comprises the complete works of Friedrich von Schiller (1759 - 1805), including his poetry and plays, the translations, minor prose works, historical and philosophical writings, letters to and from Schiller and the Conversations.

• TLG: Thesaurus Linguae Graecae: an increasingly comprehensive collection of all the surviving texts of Greek literature from the Homeric age to the middle ages. The project ultimately aims a comprehensive coverage through 1453. U of C access

• Voltaire electronique: based upon the Voltaire Foundation Oxford edition of the Complete works of Voltaire. It includes all of Voltaire's literary works.
