Religion : Electronic Resources : E-journals
To find articles (in journals), essays (in books), or book reviews, try ATLA Religion Index or another index.
E-Journals : The Library subscribes to many electronic journals. MetaLib, an information portal used by the University of Chicago Library, provides an alphabetical list of electronic journals, including descriptive and coverage information to help you select the most relevant resources. MetaLib is combined with SFX ("Find It") to provide a linking service that assists users in obtaining the actual material, often in full text format, or in directing the user to the library's print holdings. To browse titles in religion, go to e-Journals and click on the "title search/browse" tab (this is the default). Enter "religi*" and select the "contains" radio button. Push <enter> or click "go." You should see an alphabetical list of e-journals. You can also search for titles containing "theolog*" (which would find theological as well as theology). For more information on any e-journal, click on the corresponding "more info" button.
Library catalog : As well as listing e-journals in MetaLib, the U of C Library also includes titles of e-journals in the library catalog. If available, the record includes links to full-text access, as well as information on print holdings.
Citation Finder : Find a particular article for which you have a citation. Enter the information you know about the article, journal, or book into the form below and the Citation Linker will help you locate the full text - whether online, in the Library, or through interlibrary loan.
Where to find lists of e-journals in religious/theological studies:
- JSTOR : Archive of major scholarly journals. Contains complete runs from their first volumes up through approximately five years ago. (U of C access only)
- Project Muse : Project MUSE was launched in 1995 by the Johns Hopkins University Press, to offer the full text of JHUP scholarly journals via the world wide web. In 1999, MUSE published online 46 JHUP titles in the humanities, social sciences.
