U of C Patrons Visiting Other RLG Shares Institutions
- University of Chicago faculty, emeritus faculty, students, and academic and professional library staff are eligible to use the library facilities of other RLG: Shares Institutions.
- On-site access does not extend to alumni, retired faculty (except for emeritus faculty), courtesy or fee borrowers, spouses, or docents; or to faculty, staff, and students from non-U of C units affiliated with U of C.
- Check the list of RLG institutions to see if the university you are interested in visiting is listed.
- You must present a currently valid Chicago card to gain access to the RLG Institution.
- Borrowing privileges are not offered through the RLG Shares program. In-library use of material is permitted.
- When libraries have restricted stack access, visitors will receive the same degree of access accorded their peers at the host institution; for example, visiting faculty will be accorded local faculty stack privileges.
- Access to special or restricted collections or materials is possible if arranged in advance.
Patrons from Other RLG Shares Institutions Visiting U of C
- The University of Chicago Library offers free reference privileges to eligible patrons from RLG Shares institutions.
- Check the list of RLG institutions to see if your institution is a participant in the program.
- Bring your current valid university ID and a current photo ID (if your university
ID does not have a photo) to the Privileges Office.
- Privileges staff will verify your status and provide you with a University of Chicago Library Card.
- The Library Card is good for access to the library buildings only.
