U of C Patrons Visiting Other RLG Shares Institutions

University of Chicago faculty, emeritus faculty, students, and academic and professional library staff are eligible to use the library facilities of other RLG: Shares Institutions.
On-site access does not extend to alumni, retired faculty (except for emeritus faculty), courtesy or fee borrowers, spouses, or docents; or to faculty, staff, and students from non-U of C units affiliated with U of C.
Check the list of RLG institutions to see if the university you are interested in visiting is listed.
You must present a currently valid Chicago card to gain access to the RLG Institution.
Borrowing privileges are not offered through the RLG Shares program. In-library use of material is permitted.
When libraries have restricted stack access, visitors will receive the same degree of access accorded their peers at the host institution; for example, visiting faculty will be accorded local faculty stack privileges.
Access to special or restricted collections or materials is possible if arranged in advance.

Patrons from Other RLG Shares Institutions Visiting U of C

The University of Chicago Library offers free reference privileges to eligible patrons from RLG Shares institutions.
Check the list of RLG institutions to see if your institution is a participant in the program.
Bring your current valid university ID and a current photo ID (if your university ID does not have a photo) to the Privileges Office.
- Privileges staff will verify your status and provide you with a University of Chicago Library Card.
- The Library Card is good for access to the library buildings only.
