RefWorks User Fields
RefWorks includes 15 User fields, which can be customized for entering notes, keywords, comments, or annotations.
You can view the User Fields by selecting the option to "Edit" a record.

Scroll down to the bottom of your screen to access these fields. The text box will expand as you enter information.

Initially, you will notice these fields are labeled by number, such as "User 1" and "User 12". You can rename these fields by going to "Tools" option in the menu and selecting "Customize". Enter your new labels for the user fields and click on "Save".

Below you can see the changes to the user field labels in the record.

You can use these redefined user fields in a number of ways. You can search the content of these fields using the Advanced search to quickly locate references.

You can edit your output style to display these fields in your footnotes or bibliographies, which can be helpful in creating annotated bibliographies. Below, you can see the fields displayed in the Output Styles Manager.
