What Status Means

Status* Means... If you want the item...
Checked out--may be recalled Item has been borrowed by a user. Click on the title link to display the full record (if you're at a brief display of search results). Then click on the "Recall Item" link that appears to the right of the due date and follow the prompts. Recalled items are normally returned within 8 days. You will be notified when the item is available. EXCEPTION: You cannot recall checked-out items on course reserve, i.e., items whose Location shows the word "Reserve".
Claims returned The last borrower of the item believes the item was returned to the Library but no record of a check-in exists. Ask at the nearest reference or circulation desk.
Flagged for reserve Item is needed for course reserve. Ask at the nearest circulation/reserve desk when the item will be available for short-term loan.
Hold expired Item has been held for a borrower who has not picked it up; item will soon be put on hold for the next requesting borrower or will be returned to the shelf. Ask at the nearest reference or circulation desk.
In process Item is in the Library but needs to be sent to the bindery. Ask at the nearest reference or circulation desk.
In transit Item was checked in at a Location other than its "home" and is on its way back. Click Recall Item and follow the prompts. You will be notified when the item is available.
In transit recall/request Recalled/requested item was checked in at a Location other than the pickup Location; it is en route to the pickup Location. Click Recall Item and follow the prompts. You will be notified when the item is available.
Missing Item has disappeared from the collection and Library staff has been unable to determine its whereabouts. Request a replacement purchase or request an interlibrary loan.
Not checked out Item should be at the specified Location, shelved by its Call Number. Proceed to the Location. Follow these steps if you cannot find it.
On hold Item is being held for another user. Click Recall Item and follow the prompts. Once the user(s) ahead of you borrows the item (for a period of time less than the usual loan period), it will be recalled for you. You will be notified when the item is available.
On order Item has been ordered but has not yet been received. Click Recall Item and follow the prompts. The Library asks its vendors for faster delivery of requested titles. You will be notified when the item is available.
Recalled Item has been recalled by another user. Click Recall Item and follow the prompts. Once the user(s) ahead of you borrows the item (for a period of time less than the usual loan period), it will be recalled for you. You will be notified when the item is available.
Requested by patron An on-order item--requested by a user--has been received and is being processed before it is put on hold for that user. Click Recall Item and follow the prompts. You will be notified when the item is available.
Overdue Item has been kept by the current borrower longer than allowed and multiple overdue notices have been sent. Ask at the nearest reference or circulation desk.
Overdue recall Item has been recalled by another user, but the current borrower has kept it longer than allowed and multiple overdue notices have been sent. Ask at the nearest reference or circulation desk.
Received Item is in the Library but internal processing is not yet complete. Click Recall Item and follow the prompts. The Library will accelerate processing. You will be notified when the item is available.
Recently returned Item is en route to its Location. Proceed to the Location. Follow these steps if you cannot find it.
See call # browse Item's status is found on another record.

1. Note the volume number you are looking for--look in the Series label above.
2. Use the call number to search the Call Number browse index.
3. Click on the call number that has NO volume or number designation to see the record for the series of which this title is a part.
4. Click on "Show circulation status" to find the status of the volume you need.
