For items in Mansueto's general collections, click on the "Request from Mansueto Library" link. The item will be available for pickup at Mansueto Circulation (or your other chosen pickup location). For detailed instructions, see "How Do I Request Items from Mansueto?" For items in Special Collections, click on the "Request from SCRC" link. The item will be made available for use within the Special Collections Research Center Reading Room. For detailed instructions, see " How to Request Materials for use in our Reading Room." |
| Checked out--may be recalled | Item has been borrowed by a user. | Click on the title link to display the full record (if you're at a brief display of search results). Then click on the "Recall Item" link that appears near the due date and follow the prompts. Recalled items are normally returned within 8 days. You will be notified when the item is available. EXCEPTION: You cannot recall checked-out items on course reserve, i.e., items whose Location shows the word "Reserve". |

Proceed to the Location. If you can't find the item on the shelf, ask at the nearest circulation desk or place an online search request. To place a search request, click on the "Can't find it?" link in the Lens Search or Library Catalog record for the missing item. The item's information will be filled out automatically. You will just need to provide your contact information. If you can’t find the item record you’re looking for in Lens or the Library catalog, you can also fill out a blank version of the search form. Library staff will search for the missing item and contact you via email with the results of the search. If located, we will hold the item for you at the circulation desk for that location. |
| On hold | Item is being held for another user. | Click "Recall Item" and follow the prompts. Once the user(s) ahead of you borrows the item (for a period of time less than the usual loan period), it will be recalled for you. You will be notified when the item is available. |
| On order | Item has been ordered but has not yet been received. | Click "Recall Item" and follow the prompts. The Library asks its vendors for faster delivery of requested titles. You will be notified when the item is available. |
| Recalled | Item has been recalled by another user. | Click "Recall Item" and follow the prompts. Once the user(s) ahead of you borrows the item (for a period of time less than the usual loan period), it will be recalled for you. You will be notified when the item is available. |
| Recently returned | Item has been returned to its home Library in the last day and may be in the process of reshelving. |
Check for the item on shelf, since it may have already been reshelved. If you can't find it, ask at the nearest circulation desk and staff will search for the item. Depending on time and staffing levels, staff may request patrons to return later after the search is conducted. For items in Mansueto, ask at the Mansueto Circulation desk or check back later to request the item once it becomes available for request. |
