The following projects will enhance University of Chicago Library facilities for faculty, students, and staff. We apologize for the inconvenience that construction will cause users.
Work begins December 14 to build the corridor that will provide passage through Regenstein to the bridge leading to Mansueto. This work requires closing the 1st floor restrooms and creating an alternate route to the Special Collections Research Center, Interlibrary Loan, Conservation and Booksale Room. (For more information about how this construction with affect the Special Collections Research Center please visit the Special Collections Construction page.)
Construction partitions will enclose the areas in which the new corridor and new bridge vestibule will be built. New restrooms to serve Mansueto will be constructed immediately adjacent to what will be the glass bridge; in addition, the northern half (approximately) of the 1st floor public restrooms will be demolished, extended southward, and rebuilt. These remodeled restrooms are expected to reopen in Spring Quarter.
The A-level restrooms will also be closed for plumbing work from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the following dates: February 8 through February 12, 2010 and February 15 through February 19, 2010.
We apologize to Regenstein Library users for the noise and inconveniences caused by the construction process.
