Drinks in covered containers may be consumed in all libraries with the exception of the Special Collections Research Center. Eating is not allowed in any of the libraries except in Ex Libris, located on the A-Level of Regenstein, and in the Cyber Café on the lower level of Crerar Library. You may bring food and beverages into the libraries, if the food is kept in a bag and the beverage container has a secure lid.
This policy was developed to:
- Prevent damage to library books and materials from food stains and spills,
- Keep reading rooms and bookstacks pleasant and clean, and
- Discourage mice, rats, and other vermin from taking up residence in the libraries.
Please do your part to preserve the Library's collections by adhering to the Library's food and drink policy.
