Frequently Asked Questions
When are my books due?
For most circulating materials (items you can check out), there
is one due date at the beginning of each quarter. Therefore, if you
check out a book during Fall Quarter, it will be due the beginning
of Winter Quarter. Should you wish to extend the loan, you must
renew your books.

Due Dates
Some materials, however, have different loan periods.
- Reserve
materials can only be checked out for two, four, twenty-four or
forty-eight hours depending on the item. Check the reserve catalog
record to see how long you can borrow the item and please carefully
review your charge slip.
- If an item is recalled, the current user will receive a notice
from the Library with a new due date. Please note that materials
can be recalled at any time and returning items late will result in
heavy
fines.
- Items from the Recordings
Collection can only be borrowed for 28 days.
- Interlibrary Loan
materials or those borrowed from affiliated
institutions will also be subject to shorter loan periods.
The length of time you can borrow materials may also depend on
your privileges. Faculty have indefinite borrowing privileges and
do not need to renew materials. Alumni and users from institutions
with reciprocal
borrowing privileges will be subject to shorter loan periods.
