Frequently Asked Questions

How do I recall an item currently checked out by another user?

If the title you need is checked out to another user, you can request that the item be recalled for your use. To recall an item, go to "Circulation Status" in the Lens Search or Library Catalog record and click on the "recall item" link next to the due date.

Once you have selected "Recall Item" you will be taken to a form where you must enter your CNet ID and password. If you do not have a CNetIID or password, you will need to enter your library barcode and PIN.

When you recall an item, the Library will contact the borrower to request that the item be returned before the regular due date. Recalls usually take from 7 to 10 days, depending on how quickly the current borrower returns the item. Library staff will place the item on hold for you and notify you that it is available for check-out. You can check on the status of your recalled item by logging onto your Library Account.

Please note that there are some instances where items cannot be recalled (if the item is on reserve, is in the Special Collections or Reading Rooms, etc). The recall feature cannot be used to place books on hold.
