Class Librarians

Your Class Librarian can help you get started with your BA research, and can direct you to various services that are available to assist you. You can contact your Class Librarian by IM, e-mail, or schedule an appointment. Contact Your Class Librarian.

Reference Services

Reference librarians are available at all campus libraries to help you with your research. You can visit them in person at the reference desk, contact them by phone, or e-mail them through the Library's Ask a Librarian service.

Research Consultation Service

The Library strongly recommends that students working on a BA thesis or honors paper schedule a research consultation. When you request a research consultation, our librarians will schedule a time to meet with you and demonstrate the various resources available for your specific topic. As our librarians need to prepare for these sessions, we request that you provide three business days notice for requesting a consultation. Schedule a consultation.

Bibliographers / Subject Specialists

The Library's bibliographers provide subject-specific reference assistance for students. Our bibliographers and subject specialists, who are responsible for purchasing materials for the Library, have an in-depth knowledge of the collections and expertise in searching subject-specific resources. They can be especially helpful for people conducting research in languages other than English, or for projects that may use our Area Studies collections (Slavic Languages/Eastern Europe, East Asia, South Asia, or the Middle East). Library Workshops and Training Sessions

If you prefer to learn in group setting, the Library offers workshops on a variety of topics, ranging from finding full-text online to using RefWorks. The majority of these programs are held during Fall Quarter, but sessions are also scheduled throughout the academic year. View a schedule of programs.
