Savvy Science: An Introduction to the Crerar Library and the USITE Computing Cluster

Start the academic year right! Take a tour of the John Crerar Library, home to over one million volumes in the pure and applied sciences and NSIT’s USITE/Crerar Computer Cluster. Discover useful research tools such as specialized databases, electronic journals, electronic books, and the library catalog. Plus, learn how to avoid common research pitfalls and how to overcome barriers to completing your projects. A similar program is offered at the Joseph Regenstein Library, focusing on resources in the humanities and social sciences.

Harper Library

Introduction to the Harper Library and USITE/Harper Computing Cluster

Harper Library, occupying the third floors of the William Rainey Harper Memorial Building and Harold Leonard Stuart Hall, meets the general library needs of students in the College and non-specialist readers throughout the University. During this session, you will tour its comfortable and convenient reading rooms and learn about Harper's services and facilities. In addition, see the computer hardware, software, and information technology services of NSIT's USITE/Harper Computing Cluster.

Don’t get lost in the bookstacks! Learn how to navigate one of the largest libraries in North America by attending this one-hour session. We’ll cover all the Library essentials­-from how to locate readings for your classes to where you can get a cup of coffee. You’ll also discover some amazing collections and meet helpful staff members who can answer your questions. A similar program is offered at the John Crerar Library, focusing on resources in the sciences.
