Finding Historical Newspapers and magazines

The Library has an extensive collection of historical newspapers and magazines, many of which are now available online. Learn how to locate these valuable primary sources for your research.

Researching Hyde Park History

Please Note Location! The Special Collections Research Center, Regenstein Library

Curious about the history of Hyde Park and the adjacent areas of Kenwood and Woodlawn? Special Collections has primary sources material documenting the neighborhood's history, from photographs of nineteenth-century Kenwood to the Hyde Park Historical Society collection to documents dealing with Urban Renewal in the 1950s and 60s. This workshop will highlight collections of interest and show you how to locate these materials in our collections. PLEASE NOTE: No food or drinks are allowed at this presentation.

Ever wanted to construct your own family tree? This session will introduce you to resources and tools for starting your genealogical research. Information about library online resources, free and fee web resources, genealogical software and services, and local resources will be included. Participants will also be encouraged to share their own tips and tricks, or special resources.
