Online Collection

The database currently holds 7,145 records and 3,104 on-line images. Please realize that only about half of the database's records have a corresponding image on-line. If an accession number is highlighted, an image is available. Enter a word, fragment (e.g., myster retrieves instances of mystery, mysterious, and mystere) or phrase in the fields below. Diacritics have been stripped for simpler searching (e.g., enter durer to search for Dürer). One may use upper or lower case letters; searches are case insensitive. One can search using Boolean Operators (OR and AND) in any field.

Artist: (e.g., okada)
Title: (e.g., madonna)
Accession Number: (e.g., 1967.116.113)
Media: (e.g., terra cotta)
Curator's Object Class (e.g., pre-columbian)
Curator's Object Type (e.g., sculpture)
Registrar's Object Type (e.g., utilitarian)

Boolean Operators

The OR operator and the AND operator (note the uppercase) are available in all fields. For example, you may search for Degas or Pissaaro in the Artist Field by entering:
   degas OR pissarro
The AND operator works within a single field. Thus searching for
   american AND western
in the Curator's Object Class Field will find records with both american and western in any order in the Curator's Object Class Field.

Tips: You can mix fields and logical operators. Try a search for
Curator's Object Class: classical
Registrar's Object Type: utilitarian
