The following information is from Ing. Albert Welledits, VP <100675.3473@compuserve.com>, the proprietor of Salm Bräu.Salm Bräu is located in a commercial wing of the Salesianer Convent, which is next to Belvedere Palace. This old building was setup on an old wine cellar, which was established by the former major of Vienna, Mr.Tepser in 1735. The building itselfe was build in 1785, 50 years later. Since 1918 this building was not longer used by the convent was was never renovated since. During World War II it got some more damages.
1993: a friend of my father found this lost corner, which looked more like a bomb damaged wreck, than a barock architecture jewelery. In January 1994 we started renovation and invested 3 million US$. Today it is well known as the finest adress of a restaurant brewery. Beer & Barock, this synthese is a unique in Vienna. As Vienna's only Weissbeer Brewery, this place got even more attraction. We tap on premises brewed Helles, Maerzen, Pils and Weissbier.
The copper caddled full electronical high-tech brewhouse is in the middle of the scene, its capacity is 16hl per brew. The fermentation and storagecellar provides a capacity of 2400hl per year. All fermentation and storagetanks are fully insulated and made in solid stainless steel, direct jacket cooled, of course controlled by an advanced computersystem.
Our opening times are seven days per week from 11am till midnight, the guestgarden is open till 11pm. Our cousine is typical vienna style and fits to the beer we serve.
Reservations are recommended, but not a must.
