Academic Quarter Library hours update

The Library will resume Academic Quarter hours during the week of Sunday, January 23. Full hours can be found at hours.lib.uchicago.edu. There will be some modifications to the hours of certain services and spaces due to current staffing shortages.

  • On weekdays, Regenstein and Mansueto buildings will open at 8 a.m., and the Circulation desks will open at 9 a.m. Mansueto will close at 9:45 p.m. on weeknights.
  • On weekends, Regenstein will maintain regular building hours.  Mansueto will be closed on weekends.
  • The ID & Privileges Office will be closed on Saturdays.
  • Crerar, Eckhart, Social Work, and D’Angelo Law libraries will be open the same hours as during Autumn Quarter.

The changes to hours will allow us to consolidate service points and ensure that we can continue to provide study spaces and circulation services in the evenings and on weekends.  The total number of hours the Library is open for study has not changed. Circulation staff in Regenstein will regularly retrieve books from Mansueto when it is closed.  Please request items via the Library Catalog as usual.

Like many service providers at this phase of the pandemic, the Library is experiencing staffing issues that impact our ability to retain normal hours at all campus libraries.  We will work to restore hours when staffing permits. We appreciate your understanding.
