Access articles more easily with LibKey Nomad

Announcing LibKey Nomad

The Library is now providing access to LibKey Nomad, an extension for the Chrome browser from the company that produces BrowZine. Nomad works with the Library's FindIt service to make it easier to access articles from publisher web sites.

Nomad helps with access in three ways:

  1. It displays a badge to download a PDF when it detects one is available.
  2. It works everywhere, so if you are off-campus you can see if the Library provides access to an article.
  3. It uses our FindIt service to identify other options if access is not available at the publisher.

Nomad in action

Nomad scans pages as you work and detects when you land on an article at a publisher's page. It uses its connection to the Library to determine if you have access to the article and will display a Download PDF badge if a PDF is available. Nomad also displays this badge in search results in PubMed. Click the badge to go directly to the article PDF.

Nomad and off-campus access

Nomad uses the connection to the Library's FindIt service to identify subscription access. This connection means you can see if an article is available through the Library without being logged in through the proxy server. You will be prompted to log in after you click the Download PDF badge.

LibKey Access Options

If Nomad can't detect a PDF to download, the badge text will change to Access Options. Click the badge to go to a FindIt page which will give options for access through another database, Scan & Deliver, or Interlibrary Loan.
