The University of Chicago Library is one of 75 finalists for the 2012 Chicago Innovation Awards, selected from a pool of almost 400 nominations.  The Library innovation under consideration is the Joe and Rika Mansueto Library—which has garnered international attention for its soaring elliptical glass dome, breathtaking Grand Reading Room, state-of-the-art preservation laboratories, and 3.5-million-volume-equivalent automated storage and retrieval system.

The Chicago Innovation Awards, now celebrating its 11th year, honors the most innovative new products or services brought to market or to public service in the Chicago region.

The final ten winners will be announced Monday, October 22. In addition, each finalists is in the running for the annual “People’s Choice Award,” selected through online balloting at www.chicagoinnovationawards.com.
