About the Event

The South Side and UChicago communities are invited to come together to explore the UChicago Library in a new, interactive way at the inaugural UChicago Library Community Day.

Featured activities offer a rich array of educational experiences for all ages:

  • Guided tours of the Mansueto and Regenstein libraries
  • Exhibit tours
  • Storytime with Carmenita Peoples
  • Digital archiving (registration required). Community members are encouraged to bring a few personal mementos, such as photos and letters, to be scanned for digital preservation. Learn about the digital archiving process and receive digital copies of your items to take home. (The Library will not retain copies).
  • Presentations on the work of the Black Metropolis Research Consortium
  • Picnic treats

This day promises to be both enriching and enjoyable, creating a wonderful opportunity for community members to connect and discover the myriad offerings of the UChicago Library.

Contact our Ask a Librarian service with any questions. Persons with disabilities who need an accommodation in order to participate in this event should contact us through this service or our registration form as soon as possible.

There is free street parking on 57th Street and a paid parking structure at 55th and Ellis Avenue.
