Chicago Area Project was a community oriented program for delinquency prevention and research administered by Clifford R. Shaw, Anthony Sorrentino, and Henry D. McKay.

Scope and Contents note

The Chicago Area Project records include correspondence, minutes, reports, news clippings, newsletters, financial records, and research data. Topics include treatment and prevention of juvenile delinquency through inner city neighborhood programs, primarily on the Near North, South, and West Sides of Chicago (Ill.). Also materials on the sociology of urban youth in the United States. Contains papers of Clifford R. Shaw, Henry D. McKay, Illinois Institute for Juvenile Research, and the Illinois Youth Commission.
